Notiser
Allmänt:
Albertina's mother died 29 December, 1889, giving birth to Joseph. At the time the family lived on the south bank of the Watanwan River, in Vernon Township of Blue Earth County. Sadly, her father had saved money to buy Johanna a wool shawl in celebration, but had to use the money to buy a coffin instead. Albertina's father (Fredrick Fredrickson) decided he couldn't look after all 10 children, especially a young girl and so asked Swan Bengston and his wife to raiser her. Fredrick would not allow them to adopt her however. Swan was a Civil War Veteran. Gilbert Oistad had some of his uniform items. Swan is buried under a large tree in a cemetary west of Strandquist, MN. Lyle Hansen relates a story about young Tina: "one day Tina followed after one of the boys along the cow path into heavy timber along the river and got lost when she was only 3 years old. All she had on was an undershirt. They didn't find her until late the next morning. The mosquitoes had really worked her over."
